Yukong Mike Zhao

Chair

Yukong Mike Zhao is the president of the Asian American Coalition for Education (AACE), a nationally recognized advocate for meritocracy and a steadfast defender of the U.S. Constitution.

During China’s Cultural Revolution, Zhao’s family endured political persecution, extreme poverty, and devastating personal loss. In 1992, he immigrated to the United States to escape communism and pursue the American Dream. Through determination and hard work, he rose to become Director of Global Planning at Siemens Energy.

Since 2014, Zhao has been a leading voice against anti-Asian discrimination in college admissions. Under his leadership, AACE mobilized Asian American communities nationwide to support Students for Fair Admissions in its legal battles against Harvard. Through tireless advocacy, Zhao and his colleagues built a coalition of over 300 Asian American organizations. Their efforts culminated in the landmark Supreme Court ruling in June 2023, which struck down race-based Affirmative Action policies. Zhao testified before Congress in September 2023 on the significance of this decision, and his leadership was featured by The Wall Street Journal in 2015.

Drawing from his firsthand experience with authoritarianism, Zhao has published one book and many contributed opinion pieces to National Review, The Washington Examiner, The Daily Caller, Orange County Register, and other outlets, defending constitutional principles and speaking out against socialism, Critical Race Theory, and radical progressive ideologies.
