Who We Are
We are a group of Americans of Chinese descent who oppose communism and authoritarianism. We love the Constitution and firmly believe that it is the foundation for an orderly and prosperous society. Coming from another country, we know all too well the consequences of arbitrarily amending a constitution: the inevitable decline of society into chaos.
Proposition 50 is a typical example of government overreach—an attempt to amend the Constitution for the benefit of a single party. As Chinese Americans with a sense of justice, who cherish the Constitution and love America, we have a duty to stand up and oppose this so-called “temporary” constitutional amendment.
This 2025 Proposition 50, introduced by California legislators, is entirely for partisan self-interest. They are willing to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a special election in order to change constitutional provisions that have been in place for fifteen years (those established by Proposition 11 in 2008 and Proposition 20 in 2010). This effort completely violates the will of California voters, who clearly intended that redistricting power should not belong to politicians in power, that partisan registration should not be considered, and that incumbents should not be given special advantage. If such a constitutional amendment is allowed to pass, the California Constitution would be reduced to nothing more than a piece of paper. Virtually any provision could be circumvented by calling a special election, thereby stripping the Constitution of its authority. Without the authority of the Constitution, society inevitably descends into a form of social Darwinism. What is happening across the Pacific should serve as a warning to us all.
In 2008, the people of California, through a statewide referendum, passed Prop. 11, which prohibited state politicians from taking part in the once-a-decade redistricting process, instead assigning that authority to a neutral Citizen Redistricting Commission. The purpose was to restrict those in power from abusing their authority to secure electoral advantages. In 2010, California voters again approved Prop. 20 by referendum, explicitly adding congressional redistricting to the responsibilities of this neutral citizen commission. The measure passed with over 61% support, clearly representing the will of the majority of California voters.
Prop.
